Nevada has a new Governor but will Joe Lombardo financially assist the Oakland Athletics potential move to Las Vegas? The Sporting Tribune’s Steve Carp has the latest from Las Vegas.

It’s rare occurrence these days when sports and politics don’t intersect, especially when it comes to building stadiums and arenas. Here in Nevada, the Governor’s race is over and incumbent Steve Sisolak is out of a job. But it’s unclear whether his successor, Republican Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo will follow Sisloak’s mantra when it comes to the Oakland Athletics and their quest for public funding for a new baseball stadium in Las Vegas.

2. TST’s NBA Power Rankings Week 5

The Los Angeles Lakers defensive rating was ranked 2nd in the NBA just two weeks ago and now it is ranked 17th at 111.4. Before picking up a convincing victory over the heavily favored Brooklyn Nets on Sunday night, the Lakers were spiraling out of control with double digit losses to the Jazz and Clippers, and a 6-point loss to the Sacramento Kings. The Lakers looked like a different team against the Nets as their defense looked dominant after not showing up for a week and a half, and they hit enough shots (40.7% from 3, 48.4% from the field in general) to win the game.

4. Keenan Allen and Mike Williams should be back for the Chargers

Chargers coach Brandon Staley says wide receivers Keenan Allen and Mike Williams should be back at practice this week. Who else will be joining the Chargers this week? The Sporting Tribune’s Fernando Ramirez has the latest from Chargers.

The Chargers could search free agency for a defensive tackle with former players Isaac Rochell and Linval Joseph being available. There is also Ndamukong Suh, who isn’t the player he once was, but maybe he has a little left in the tank. They could also look at other teams’ practice squads.

5. Clippers Top 5 alternate uniforms over last decade

The Clippers officially unveiled their 2022-23 City Edition uniforms on Thursday, and debuted them on the court against the Brooklyn Nets Saturday. Following that debut, The Sporting Tribune’s Eric Patten ranked his Top 5 favorite Clippers “alternate” uniforms in the last decade.

The release of his year’s City uniforms follows a revamped Statement Edition uniform, which made its on-court debut Wednesday against the Lakers. Since Nike became the league’s outfitter in 2017-18, teams have utilized at least four uniform sets each year and have used the first couple months of the season to showcase new threads, including six new City uniforms. 6. Clark’s three pointers propel No. 8 UCLA past Norfolk State

Continuing his successful season start, Jaylen Clark unleashed another remarkable performance en route to UCLA's 86-56 win over Norfolk State. The Sporting Tribune’s Kamran Nia has the latest from UCLA.

The home crowd roared as Jaylen Clark knocked down his third three-pointer. Then, he walked off calmly, as scoring with volume has become a norm for the young star. Continuing his successful season start, Clark unleashed another remarkable performance en route to a 86-56 win over the Norfolk State Spartans (2-2). The Southern California native exhibited his most notable improvement: the three-point shot. Clark made a career-high five threes, boosting his season’s overall percentage to 53.8%, a significant rise from 25.9% last year. His previous game-high total was three.
