1. Golden Knights continue to falter in shootout loss at Edmonton, 5-4
Vegas gets a point in Edmonton, but not the three they needed as they lose 5-4 in a shootout, writes The Sporting Tribune’s Will Despart.
For 37 and a half minutes, UNLV nursed a consistent double-digit lead and controlled the pace on both ends of the floor. They were as active as they’ve been all year on defense and had even found a bit of a rhythm shooting the rock. They held a 72-63 lead with under two minutes remaining in the game.
That’s when things got hairy for the Runnin’ Rebels. Akron proceeded to go on a 7-0 run over the course of the next minute, bringing the game to within two points when an Enrique Freeman basket made the score 72-70 with 47 seconds remaining.
Akron then scooped the defensive rebound off a Luis Rodriguez miss, and had an opportunity to tie or win the game with under 25 seconds left and the shot clock off.
2. UNLV survives late comeback scare in win over Akron
UNLV moved to 3-3 on the season despite a late scare on Monday night against Akron.

The Rebels had one more stop in them though. They forced a deep three point attempt from Akron’s Mikal Dawson that bounced off the side of the rim and into the hands of DJ Thomas with two seconds left. Thomas was unable to convert the free throw attempts after being fouled, but managed to prevent Freeman from getting a full-court attempt off as the final buzzer sounded.
3. Rams dominate Cardinals in end-to-end victory in Arizona, 37-14
With the Rams finally healthy, they prove why they can be a force down the stretch, writes The Sporting Tribune’s Grant Mona.
This is the game that Rams’ fans have been waiting for. The Cardinals scored in their opening drive to take the lead, but after that, it was all Los Angeles. Matthew Stafford threw multiple touchdowns and Kyren Williams established himself as a top running back in the NFL in his first game back after being on the IR.
The Rams are now 5-6 and one game out of a wild card spot in the NFC.
4. LAFC to host the Western Conference Final after 1-0 win against Seattle
LAFC keep their hopes of winning consecutive MLS Cup titles alive with their win against Seattle Sounders. They next host Houston Dynamo in the Western Conference Final, writes The Sporting Tribune’s Chandrima Chatterjee.
LAFC, the reigning MLS Cup champion, are heading home as the host of the Western Conference Final after defeating Seattle Sounders 1-0 in front of a packed Lumen Field on Sunday night.
The Black and Gold were heavily reliant on the MLS Golden Boot winner as he scored his fourth MLS Playoffs goal of the year and the heroic goalkeeping display of Maxime Crépeau who finished the match with seven saves. Seattle, who’d won their previous two playoffs matches against LAFC and hadn’t lost a playoff game at home in a decade with a 19-match unbeaten record, were unable to find the back of the net in spite of outshooting their opponents eight to two.
