Welcome to The Morning Column
Columns and podcasts from Arash Markazi, former sports columnist at the Los Angeles Times, ESPN and Sports Illustrated, and host of "The Arash Markazi Show"
Welcome to The Morning Column! I have lived in Los Angeles for most of my life and have covered sports in the city for over 20 years. I spent the past 16 years as a sports columnist at the Los Angeles Times and a senior writer at ESPN and Sports Illustrated.
I am launching this column on the same day I will be starting The Arash Markazi Show, which can be heard Monday-Friday, 12 p.m.-1 p.m. on The Mightier 1090, the 50,000-watt sports leader in Southern California. The show will also be a Monday-Friday podcast available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Play, TuneIn and Stitcher. I will e-mail the podcast to subscribers in the afternoon.
This is an exciting time for Los Angeles sports with the Lakers playing in the NBA Finals, the Dodgers being World Series favorites, the Rams looking like Super Bowl contenders and USC and UCLA soon returning to action at the Coliseum and Rose Bowl. I can’t think of a better time for the launch of the site, radio show and podcast.
It doesn’t cost anything to sign-up and subscribe to The Morning Column now so please do so below. It will be a subscription service in 2021 but the perks will be worth it.
Why subscribe?
What makes a subscription to The Morning Column different than any subscription you have right now is that you’re not just subscribing to receive my columns and podcasts e-mailed to you, you’re joining what I hope will become a community.
When you subscribe to The Morning Column, you will be invited to The Morning Column Slack channel where you will be able to engage with me and other subscribers.
If you’re a subscriber and didn’t get a column or podcast delivered to you or have a complaint, you won’t have to contact costumer service, you will get my personal e-mail and you can contact me directly.
Founding members of The Morning Column will get monthly phone calls from me where we can not only discuss sports but what you think about the site, radio show and podcast. You will not be simply a customer here. You will be a part of a community with a direct line to me.
How much does it cost?
It costs $5 per month. It comes out to less than that if you commit to an annual membership of $50. The founding membership is $180 per year ($15 per month) and you will get all of the above perks plus a monthly call from me where we can not only talk about sports but also the direction of the website, radio show and podcast.
